Seminar/Workshop of
NASO Community
Held on Feb 17, 2007 at Waldorf, MD.
This was one of the largest gatherings forty-seven concerned people living in metro- DC area and New York, who are committed to create a casteless society, attended the meeting. The meeting had almost one full day agenda. Mr. Dharam Biswakarma, President of NASO Community presided the meeting.
The meeting was started with an introduction of participants and welcome notes. This was followed by a walk-through of meeting agenda. As a pre-face of the meeting, Mr. DB Sagar and Advocate Mr. Dinesh Tripathi gave presentations. MORE
6th Congressional Hearing-NASO Community's presence
On Thursday, October 6, 2005, Dharam Bishwokarma, Bishnu Pariyar, Sharda Khati, Sitaram (Chandra) Bishwakarma and Prakash Nepal had an excellent opportunity to attend the 6th US congressional hearing on Caste and untouchability. It was an encouraging experience to be there and hear how US government is concerned over the oppressed people's issues overall. MORE
Contribution to Bhagat Sarbajit Memorial AcademyNASO Community members collected about $1000 (almost NRs.80,000) to make a donation to Bhagat Sarbhajit Pratisthan in Butwal. This donation was toward the construction of Bhagat Sarbajit Memorial Academy in Butwal, Rupandehi, Nepal.
Financial Assistance to Victims of Kashmir Terrorist
Nine people who were doing labor work in Kashmir of India, were killed by the Kashmir terrorist. The victims were all from the poorest of the poor community (Musahar of Terai). The government of Nepal showed no concern over the incident, even the media had very little coverage. NASO Community members had pain by the incident. Therefore, the NASO Community members again raised some pocket money and decided to handover to the victims family. Ms. Bishnu Maya Pariyar, a NASO Community member and president of EDWON, handed over the financial assistance to the victims' family in Nepal. MORE
Recommendation to Interim Constitution Draft Committee
NASO Community submitted a recommendation to Interim Constitution Drafting Committee. We emphasized that the marginalized minority community be equally representated in the constition assembly. MORE
